Prof. Funso Akere

Taught English Language and Communication at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Universities of Lagos, Ibadan, and LASU in Nigeria, and at the Univ. of Florida, Gainsville, U.S.A.

He was also appointed to the Nigerian Educational Research & Development Council, Sheda, Abuja, as Consultant & Head, of the Language Development Centre (1991 – 1993). He was appointed, Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State (2002 – 2006). He was also appointed by Ondo State Gover- nment as the Pro- Chancellor & Chairman of the Governing Council of Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (2010-2014). He took up post- retirement teaching appointment as Professor of English at Redeemer’s University, Mowe from 2006 to 2015.

He is engaged in various consultancy projects in corporate communications in English for the civil service, banks, professional organisations, legislative houses, private companies, etc. He has been awarded the following fellowships:

1. Fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Letters (FNAL) 2008.
2. Fellow of Nigerian English Studies Association, 2006.
